Get to Know Me!
I was born in Arkansas and raised in the same small town all my life. I went to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and graduated in 1993 with a B.S Ed and then received my Masters Degree - M.S Ed as a Reading Specialist in 1997. I taught for 5 years from 1993-1997 and then took 10 years off to be a mom to my little boys. In 2007, I went back to work and have taught Kindergarten ever since. This is my 5th year at Topping Elementary here in KC. I have a passion for teaching Kindergarten and love coming to work each and every day. It is so exciting to see the amazing growth that Kindergarteners make every day.
My family lives in Smithville and I am a wife to Steve, mom to 3 awesome boys - Josh (24), Jacob,(19) and Jackson (17). We also have a precious shitzu named Boomer. They keep me very busy with all their activities.
In my spare time I love to read, scrapbook, and and spend time with family and friends. But my favorite thing to do is to plan , prepare, and create activities for my students. The things I love most about teaching Kindergarten are the students and the great growth that they make this first year of school.
